Everything but the Kitchen Sink Challenge #6!

Welcome to Everything but the Kitchen Sink's sixth challenge! This challenge is so fun because it is to use wrapping paper! I bet you guys have a lot of that hanging around!
I decided to make these pom pom flowers that are oh so popular right now. They are so fun to make. I had fun creating them in front of the TV. I am definitely keeping them in mind to put on presents in the future! The letters are Making Memories and SO glittery. Messy but super cute!
The ribbon is also off of a present I received. The patterned paper is from the Torendi Modern Red kit. I am in love with it! Don't you just want to make a wish on a Dandelion now? :)

We have a wonderful prize this week : A $25 gift certificate from Verve Stamps! How cool is that! The challenge will run until midnight CST on Jan. 8th and the winner will be announced Jan. 12. Don't forget to go to this post here to find Mr. Linky. Also check out all of the other EbtKS girls! Their links are to the right! :)

Tomorrow the hubs and I close on our first house! We still can't believe it! Then the day after is New Year's Eve! We are going to be celebrating our new house, the new year and 10 years of Mike + Kelly! We met when we were 18 and 19 and haven't been apart since. I love my Mike and am so excited to spend the next million years with him :). Okay, enough sap from me :).
I promised to tell you guys about Cuban New Year's Eve traditions. They are so fun! At midnight we eat 12 grapes with each gong of the clock (I never can quite eat them that quickly). These grapes signify the 12 months of the year and help bring you luck for those months. The other tradition we do is throwing water over your back shoulder. The water represents all the bad things from the previous year and by tossing them away backwards you are moving on with a fresh start. So you can imagine all the New Year's kisses, toasts, drinking, grape eating and water throwing going on at once is madness, but it is so fun!
I wish you all a healthy and happy new year filled with endless joy. If any of you eat grapes or throw water, let me know! :)

Have an amazing day,

love birds

More Blue Skies from me. I just can't help it! Haha! I love their dimensional stickers. They have such cute details and make a great quickie card! I also love this Martha loop punch for grass now. I think it works so well!
The "love birds" rub-on was originally laid out with "love" on top of "birds". I wanted a different look, so I just cut apart the rub-on and applied them side by side. I love that you can do that with rub-ons!

I am off to California tomorrow. There is a lot of snow here, so I hope our plane can take off! It will be nice to get back home. Mike and I close on our first house on the 30th! We are super excited!! There is a lot of stuff coming up in the next few days, so if you don't see me here on the blog or twitter, it's probably because I don't have internet access!

I hope you are all enjoying the last day of the weekend!

Etsy Inspired Challenge #68

Welcome to the Etsy Inspired Challenge #68! This week's inspiration shop is the Gypsy Rose Handbags shop. There is so much to be seen here! Here are my inspirations this week:

I decided to pick up on the flourish and houndstooth patterns while using the bright colors of the middle bag!
I cut this butterfly out with my Slice and heat embossed the patterns from the bags onto the butterflies and then layered them over each other with foam adhesive. I slightly curved the edges of the butterflies to give it some dimension.
I just love that Blue Skies patterned paper on the bottom. It is just so sweet!

I hope you will come play along with us this week at Etsy Inspired! Here is the prize:
- Everyday Adorable stamp set by Unity! Such a cool prize!

Here is what you need to do to play along:
- Visit Gypsy Rose Handbags shop and find an item that inspires you
- Create a project of your own
- Post a link to your project on this post by Friday, January 1st at noon PST.

I had such a blast. Thank you so much, Etsy Inspired gals, for inviting me along! I look forward to playing along in more Etsy Inspired challenges!

Also, I hope you all are having wonderful holidays. I have had a great Christmas with my family here in Chicago. I still have a few more days to enjoy the beautiful snow, then it's back to California to celebrate the New Year! I absolutely love New Year's Eve. Cubans have a lot of fun (aka funny) traditions! I will tell you all about them when we get closer!

Lots of hugs to my crafty pals! I am so thankful for all of you!

Have an amazing day,

if you can imagine it, you can achieve it

This Donna Downey set is super gorgeous. I got it at Limelight, and they have a great price and amazing customer service! Love them! I used my different coastal inks and dabbed them on the flower image for a blended look. I used my American Crafts Stamp Markers to do the sentiment. They work so well for highlighting certain words in sentiments!
I am so enamored with this ribbon. I had to force my hands to press down on the scissors and cut it. It is seriously beautiful in real life! American Crafts has this whole indie ribbon collection that I really love. Like, I wish that who ever designed this ribbon would make me clothes, because that clothes would rock. :)

Walking in a Torendi Wonderland!

This card was made using Torendi Kits! The patterned paper is Jillibean Soup and the girl stamp is Shinzi Katoh which are both from the Modern Red kit. The brown card stock is from the Joy kit. I just love mixing and matching these kits!

I made this card with the Embellish Magazine challenge in mind:

Here is a close up on this cutie pie stamp. It actually originally says I love NY around it, but this time, I just wanted the image of the woman, so I colored her with Copics and cut her out.
I love that this paper looks like falling snow. I even added some snowflakes stamped in Versmark on the dark brown card stock to mimic this feel. This card just makes me sing "walking in a winter wonderland" which is good because I just arrived in Chicago and there is snow all around! I love it. Snow is like pure magic to me. I can't wait to see those flakes fall soon. I never quite get over the beauty of it.

I hope you enjoyed another look into the Modern Red kit! I cannot wait for the January kit to come out! I am sure Jenn will wow us again! I hope you are all having wonderful holidays!

Have an amazing day,

congratulations you charming bird :)

Hello everyone! The holidays are so near. I can't believe it. Mike and I braved the stores yesterday to do some last minute Christmas shopping. We considered the trip successful for two reasons. 1. We actually finished our shopping. 2. Our car only got hit by a shopping car once. Haha! :) Anyways, on to the card! I made this card using this charm that I made a while back:I used alcohol inks to create a marbleized background on a Tim Holtz charm. You can read about it on this post here. :)
I decided to create a simple background for the charm so that it would stand out, so I stamped this Hero Arts design block in Versamark on kraft (one of my favorite looks). I stamped a quick sentiment in the corner, and then tied 5 colors of twine around the card and through the charm. I love that the colors of the twine pick up the different colors on the charm!

Don't forget about the awesome Torendi stuff going on here and here! Buy something on sale and possibly come to the CHA trade show! Eeek! It is going to be such a blast!

Also, I wanted to thank Cath over at Moxie Fab World for featuring my card in the Christmas in the Old Country challenge. It was such a fun challenge! If you haven't checked out Moxie Fab World before, you totally need to! Endless inspiration!

Etsy Inspired Challenge #67

Welcome to Etsy Inspired challenge #67! This week's inspiration store is Kindly Noted, and it is so cute! I was immediately inspired by this print named "Hey Chap":And the first thing I thought of was the Torendi Modern Red kit. It has this adorable Shinzi Katoh postcard that reminds me of the characters from Kindly Noted!
I was also inspired by the "hey chap" letters, so I used these Basic Grey alpha stickers to mimic that.
The gorgeous textured red card stock is American crafts and the fun alphabet paper is Jillibean soup and both are in the Modern Red Torendi kit. So is that awesome button. I love the "tortoise shell" look. It reminds me of these dorky glasses I had in middle school ;).

I hope you will come play along with us this week at Etsy Inspired! There are two possible prizes:
- 2 free prints of the winner's choice from Kindly Noted

Everything but the Kitchen Sink Challenge #5!

Hello and welcome to another Everything but the Kitchen Sink sketch challenge! This month's challenge is based off of Winter's oven:And here is the sketch:I decided to flip the sketch 90 degrees, because you guys know I am not good at following the rules :). Haha! I used this adorable journaling sticker from American Crafts! Isn't it the cutest? I love that it stands on it's own without adding journaling! I also used my loopy Martha punch for the first time. One of the sweetest girls on the planet, Lisa, bought one for me when she found it at Michael's. Isn't that amazing?! Love you, Lisa!
For the "dots" on the sketch, I decided to use these lady bug rub-ons that matched the journaling sticker. They are just so cute. Thanks to American Crafts for sending me the happiest, most sunshiney (not a word, I know) stuff out there! :)

We have a fabulous prize again this time. Here is a description from Winter:
The prize is the new book by Elizabeth Kartchner- 52 More Scrapbooking Challenges. This book
really isn't for just scrapbookers, it really is for any crafter! I LOVE that book! She is SO talented!
Winter has me totally excited about this book now! :)
Please come and play along with us! Click here to go to the official blog post and Mr. Linky to post your cards. I cannot wait to see what you do!

I also wanted to congratulate the winners from last week. Everyone did such an amazing job! Thank you so much for having fun with toothpicks with us!
